  1. Use Flashget as default download manager instead of downloading with Internet explorer.[ as if you download using IE , when the connection with the server breaks the download begins from the start whereas incase of a downlaod manager the download resumes from where it stops]. For Opera and Firefox it has inbuilt download managers.
  2. Always use an antivirus protection, Keep your antivirus program up-to-date .Download updates from the internet or updates that come in Digit or any other PC magzine.I recommend to use Grisoft AVG Antivirus.Its available in Free & Paid versions. the free versions has some options lesser than paid version.
  3. Use Spybot - Search & Destroy , a program to search & destroy spywares, malware programs istalled on your computers.This program even removes cookies that can infect the system,lets you tweak ur browsers.Believe me its truly an wonderful application to protect your computer those who spend most of their time on the internet.
  4. Use iolo System Mechanic which is just another program to protect your computer from spywares , mallwares,trojans.
  5. You can use Zone Alarm as Firewall.
Do's Dont's
  1. Keep your antivirus and antispyware up-to-date.
  2. Keep your operating system upto date .[Like downloading latest updates from Microsoft's sites.]
  3. Enable Firewall.If you dont have downlaod third party Firewall.eg.Zone Alarm [Windows XP , Server 2000 and 2003 or the later has inbuilt firewall so use them.]
  1. Do not visit Porn site.
  2. Do not install untrusted active X controls for browser.
  3. Do not install any toolbar.[except for Google,Yahoo,Microsoft]It makes browser slow. [specially:ucomore,ebay etc]
  4. Do not visit crack /serial sites.[malwares or backdoor trojans downlaod itself without your knowledge.]

Following these steps will keep your system running smooth and fast fre from viruses & spywares . Just follow the steps as mentioned . If any damage to your system occurs, i am not liable for any damage caused by following the above steps. I have kept my system safe & free from viruses just by using these programs.
